Hunting & Fishing in Perry County PDF Print E-mail
County Information - Visiting Perry County

Perry County offers many wonderful opportunities for the avid fisherman and hunter.  The Tennessee River borders the western edge of Perry County, and the Buffalo River runs north to south as well.  There is land available to lease for hunting, as well as purchase, some with cabins on them that are perfect for the hunter in the family. Muzzleloader/archery Deer Season opens Saturday, November 4, and goes to November 10.  In addition to private lands, including public hunting areas, several wildlife management areas (WMAs) will be open to hunters during this muzzleloader season.  Hunters need to refer to the 2006 Hunting and Trapping Guide for a list of these WMAs or go online at the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency website

The Tennessee Waterfowl Hunting Guide can also be viewed at the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency website.  The Tennessee Hunting & Trapping Guide can be viewed there as well.  Regulations change year to year, so be sure to check to see what is allowed this year.

The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) would like to remind all hunters that Tennessee State Law (TCA 70-4-106) requires all hunters to have permission before hunting on private property.

Every year TWRA Offices across the state receive calls from landowners about people hunting without permission. TWRA personnel will, as in past years, assist landowners who wish to sign a warrant and prosecute hunters for hunting without permission.

The law requires hunters to have permission from the landowner before hunting, whether or not the property is posted. In most cases, verbal permission will work. If the property is properly posted with signs stating hunting by "written permission only", then hunters are required to carry written permission from the landowner. deer

TWRA urges all hunters to obtain a 2006 Tennessee Hunting and Trapping Guide or go to the TWRA website
and review the information before hunting. Each year, hunters are issued citations for violations that a few minutes of reading could have prevented.

Remember: "Stop Poaching!" In West Tennessee, call 1-800-831-1173 to report game law violations.
