County Information - About the Chamber

Upcoming Events

Having completed our first full year of existence, it is now safe for us to say what we plan on doing throughout the upcoming year.  It has been an exciting first year, and we learned many things.

The Chamber of Commerce will once again sponsor a Valentine Benefit Dinner for 100 couples on February 9, 2008.  One ticket is for two dinners, and door prizes are given to each couple, with a grand prize of $2,000 cash.  The past event was extremely successful, and everyone had a wonderful evening of fun and festivities.  The dinner will be a sit-down dinner, with full table service.

The Heritage Days Festival will be held the weekend of May , 2007, to take advantage of cooler weather.  There will be more information posted on here about Heritage Days the closer we get and as plans firm up.

Rally Tennessee 2008 will be back the weekend of May 23-25, 2008, with racers participating from all over the world.  Last year the event planners added motorcycles as well, which made for a longer race.  In the words of one of the car drivers, Perry County is one of the best kept secrets in the rally race world, with wonderful roads and friendly residents who have welcomed them every year.

Heritage Days was a huge success last year when we held it on the same weekend with the Rally Tennessee event.  We will not be doing that this year because of scheduling and space availability, but we are definitley going to do it.  We will be bringing back the carnival atmosphere for the kids with games and buggy rides, the Chrome 'n the Country show of big rig trucks, the Washer Pitchin' Contest, and the Perry County authors book signing at the library.

Additionally, we are hoping to add an Antique Fair in the Community Center, with booth space available to dealers and individuals as well.

This fall we did an inaugral event of Fall Foliage Boat Rides which was well received.  Held on a Saturday in late October, everyone enjoyed cruising on the Tennessee River in a pontoon boat, and some were even entertained by American Bald Eagles who have made Perry County their home.  The local hotel, Commodore Hotel, is even going to put together some Fall Foliage weekend package specials.

The Christmas Craft Show kicked off November 2007, with over 20 local crafters in the Community Center.  Some of our Mennonite community were there selling home-made baskets, and other local crafters sold stained glass items, wooden carvings and paintings.
